Why Generator Rated in KVA not KW

The answer:

Generator losses generally depend on the form of core losses and copper losses based on the form of current and voltage losses. Therefore, the correct rating is in KVA not in kW. In addition to this,We do not know which load apply to O/P side.
we dn't knw which load apply at o/p side

A generator swtiches mechanical energy from the prime mover to electrical energy.  The engine, turbine, windmill, waterwheel, or kid on a bicycle spins the generator is rated in horsepower = kW.  The generator is not able to generate any more kw than is supplied by the prime mover.  Building on this, specifying its size in kW makes sense.
