the good answer is A. if we put the switch in series to the neutral, if sometime we accidentally touch the bare phase line wire, you will get the electric shock, Because of the current flowing through the phase line starts flowing this time through our body, Hence it is not wise to connect the switch in neutral for safety purpose.
Both can work but A is better because its safe to connect the switch on the live side instead of connecting on Neutral. In addition to this, I prefer A as it's safe to work on the lamp withouth being shocked if you standing on the ground ofcoz and you happen touch the live wire.
